The St Peter's Team

Rector: Rev Doug McHardie

Doug is a Dundee United fan, former accountant and professional trainer. He plays guitar badly and golf erratically and loves to experiment in the kitchen. Doug trained for the ministry in Nottingham and served as a curate in the Horley team for 3 1/2 years before being appointed as Rector in March 2014. Doug is excited by discerning God's lead and looks forward to the opportunities facing St Peter's church as we listen and follow.

Associate Minister: Art Barron

Art has been the Associate Minister at St Peter's since June 2007. Formerly a solicitor he now works full time as a Hospital Chaplain after serving his curacy at St Mary Magdalene with St Martin in Addiscombe. He has recently been appointed the supportive and palliative care specialist chaplain at Guy's and St Thomas' hospitals. Art is married to Brenda who is the St Peter's SPA (Southwark Pastoral Auxiliary). They have four grown up children and currently six grandchildren.

Children and Families Minister: Rachel Gardner

Rachel began as children and families minister in February 2015. Rachel has been a member of St Peter's for over a decade and has helped lead Lighthouse Sunday club for nearly as long. Before starting her new role Rachel worked in London as a social researcher evaluating a range of projects and programmes. Rachel enjoys knitting, going out for afternoon tea and learning new children songs especially those with actions.

Verger: Doug Marshall

Doug Marshall is Verger at St Peters, responsible (among other things!) for the preparation of the church building for Sunday and midweek activities.
He has lived in Woodmansterne for 46 years, and has been married to Alimoon, a retired nurse, since 1991. Doug has been a member of St Peters since 1963, and has served St Peters in many ways everything from a Pathfinder leader to Sacristan!

Doug is a retired Telecommunications Instructor and Training officer, who also volunteered with the Cardiac Rehabilitation Service at Epsom General Hospital. With the coming of our new Rector the church family have taken to calling him "little Doug"!

Reader: Susan Knight

Susan Knight is our Reader (Lay Minister). Susan was licensed in 2013 and is a member of the PCC, Outreach Committee and co-ordinates the Prayer Chain. Susan also coordinates our discipleship groups and has led a number of prayer and adult study groups. She lives in Woodmansterne with her husband, Maurice and sons; Philip and Andrew. The family follow different football teams but all support Leicester Tigers Rugby Club.

SPA: Brenda Barron

Brenda is a Southwark Pastoral Auxilliary, or SPA for short!. Some of Brenda's ministry at St Peter's involves heading up a team of people who organise the Bus Stop Cafe in the church hall on a Thursday morning.
